For three short, very precious weeks each spring, Burnside Farms explodes with color as millions of tulips bulbs bloom across 15 acres. It is breathtaking!

Discovering Burnside Farms
The farm opens to the public for a not-to-be-missed pick-your-own tulip event, and the result is truly spectacular — row after row of vibrant blooms stretching across rolling hills.
But here’s the tricky part: no one knows exactly when the tulips will bloom.
Not even the farm.

Virginia Spring Weather: The Wild Card
If you live in Virginia, you know our spring weather has a personality of its own.
It can feel like winter overnight and early in the morning, spring by breakfast, and full-blown summer for a few hours in the afternoon. That unpredictable weather plays a huge role in when the tulips bloom and when the festival can begin.
The farm provides regular updates on its website and social media, so keeping an eye out is essential.
Planning a Visit
Because Burnside Farms is located in the busy rural suburbs of Northern Virginia — and because it’s wildly popular with tulip fans and Instagrammers who travel from far and wide to see the blooms, and for good reason.— plan a visit for a Friday morning to avoid weekend crowds.
Admission includes five tulip stems per ticket. If you follow the picking instructions and the ground is wet enough, you may even pull the bulb up with the flower still attached.

You can:
-Keep the bulb (for an additional charge).
-Purchase extra stems.
-Cut the bulbs off at checkout and wrap your bouquet for the ride home.
Pro tip: bring a small container of water to keep your bouquet fresh on the ride home, especially if you’re trip home is warm and a bit of a ride.
What’s Included With Admission
Beyond the tulips, the farm offers:
A children’s play area
Restrooms
A picnic area
Live music on weekends
A festive, family-friendly atmosphere
And yes — well-behaved dogs on a leash are welcome.
And don’t forget your camera! You’ll regret it if you do.
Tips for Visiting Burnside Farms
A few pieces of advice from our experience:
Watch the weather forecast carefully in the days leading up to your visit. Wear proper footwear. This is a working farm. Heels and muddy fields are not friends.
Dress in layers. It can be was chilly on the hill in the spring, even in mid-April.
Prepare to walk. There is a distance from parking to the fields. Expect mud if it has rained.
Plan Your Visit
Because bloom times are weather-dependent, so checking the farm’s website before you go is essential. The website has up-to-date information about ticket releases, bloom timing. and admission pricing
Location: 1108 Kettle Run Road, Nokesville, Virginia 20181
